Welcome to the first May 2011 edition of our eNewsletter.
Summer is almost upon us and construction activity is increasing in many parts of our country. Let's hope this continues and translates into good business for 2011. I will be in Dallas, Texas this week at Waste Expo. If you are attending and would like to meet up and talk shop, drop me a line.
We have five new articles from our exclusive MCO authors, and one guest article: Don Talend makes another appearance with “Milling It—and Making It—in the Big Apple,” about how 3D positioning is being used in milling and paving JKF airport. Paul Hahn brings his third installment of “Machine Control in the Real World” and Marco Cecala includes two video tutorials in his article “GPS Used for Roadway Subgrade.” Chad Cooper and Ron Ciccarone both offer technical advice when preparing data for a simple site and a parking lot and Joe Sass discusses the reality of GNSS accuracy.
We continue to hear from our readers about new projects and bidding opportunities. If you are considering positioning and 3D machine control technology, welcome. MachineControlOnline.com is committed to serve as your knowledge base.
As always, I hope you enjoy this newsletter! Please stay tuned, visiting us often as we update the website daily. Please don't hesitate to contact me if there is any subject about which you would like to see more information. I read each and every email!

High-profile runway resurfacing project at New York's JFK airport puts advanced milling control technology to the test.
Frank Sinatra once sang that if you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere. Advanced milling and grading technology recently was tested according to that old adage at John F. Kennedy International Airport and passed the test impressively. JFK’s 13R-31L (“Bay”) Runway—the nation’s third-longest at 14,572 feet—was ...

Building a Simple Site - First Play, Same Play by Chad Cooper: – My football coach had quite the challenge. We were a somewhat smaller school when compared to much bigger, and much better funded schools that we would play throughout the year. We were tough, don't get me wrong - but its intimidating when you have 20 players on the sideline and they have 75. Now ...

Modeling A Parking Lot - Part 4 by Ron Ciccarone, LS: – We are now at the 4th installment of parking lot modeling. It has been a month since the last article and I have trouble remembering what I did yesterday. Quick recap from Part 3, we discussed the issue of what type of curb to be modeled, straight faced, curb with gutter, and you also have catch or spill gutters ...
