Welcome to the June 2009 edition of our eNewsletter. I just returned from a 3 week business trip in Australia. I visited several coal mines that use 3D machine control. Much of construction machine control technology is developed first at open pit mines, dealing with machines of an entirely different scale. One site has 5 bucketwheel excavators fitted with 3D GNSS machine guidance systems standing 6 stories each. It is an awesome sight! I hope to have authorization to publish a handful of videos I shot while "down under" so please stay tuned.
As usual, please scroll down for original content from our expert columnists. We've got a couple guest authors developing pieces for our next edition (already), you can count on us for fresh, insightful content each and every month.
I hope you enjoy the newsletter. Please stay tuned, visiting us often, as we update the website daily.
Feel free to contact me anytime with questions, case studies or pictures/videos you would like us to consider for publishing. |

Day, night, week-end, holiday, you name it... Machine Control Online is updated 24/7 with the latest news and announcements affecting the Machine Control business.. Below are some of the latest items of interest.
Editor's Note: Videos of the Week
I've spent quite a bit of time on the road over the last month. To the right, you can see the sheer size and power of the machines many mining operations deal with. New machine control technologies are making better use of these machines every day. Pending clearance, I should have several informative videos (from my visits to Australian construction sites) posted to the site in the coming weeks. Until then, feel free to check out our current archive of videos, half-way down the homepage. I personally select and add new segments each week..
You can browse many more videos (in our library), just click on through.

Machine Guidance Sensors: 2D & 3D Excavation Simplified - For the newcomer machine guidance can be a tricky business to understand, and the number of solution providers and system types can cause much confusion. As with my previous article over viewing the sensor options within machine guidance I would like to cut through the mumbo jumbo...
