Welcome to the end-of-April 2011 edition of our eNewsletter. Hope everyone enjoyed the long holiday weekend. Spring is here, and construction activity is increasing!
The dust has barely settled on ConExpo and new product announcements, and the acquisitions continue; namely, Trimble's announcement that they have entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Ashtech, a technology leader founded more than 25 years ago. You can read about the company's history HERE. It will be interesting to see how the acquisition plays out within Trimble. I am optimistic it will benefit the markets they serve with a broader product portfolio.
I interviewed Francois Erceau of Ashtech while visiting their corporate headquarters last May. Watch the video here.
In this newsletter, we revisit 5 articles written by our exclusive MCO authors. Marco Cecala reviews ConExpo from his perspective. Paul F. Hahn follows up his last article with a second installment of "The Real Impact of Machine Control" interviewing an early adopter. Nigel Adam discusses the safety benefit of machine control technology and Ron Ciccarone continues with part 3 of "Modeling a Parking Lot." Joe Sass has written a compelling call-to-action article "Is GPS In Jeopardy?" This is a valid question and I hope you have the time to check it out and get involved.
Also, if you haven't had the chance, I hope you will take a moment to view our new Machine Control Magazine Digital Edition. There are 11 articles and plenty of products to explore.
We continue to hear from our readers about new projects and bidding opportunities. If you are considering positioning and 3D machine control technology, welcome. MachineControlOnline.com is committed to serve as your knowledge base.
As always, I hope you enjoy this newsletter! Please stay tuned, visiting us often as we update the website daily. Please drop me a line if there is any subject about which you would like to see more information. I personally read every email!
