Welcome to the mid-month August 2009 edition of our eNewsletter.
In this issue, we recap the latest news as well as new blog postings. Also worth mentioning, on the MCo website, we recently added an easy way to access all of the articles published by our authors and exceptional contributors.
Paul Hahn and I recently met with our partners, Marc and Allen Cheves (Editor & Publisher of The American Surveyor Magazine & Spatial Media, respectively), regarding MachineControlOnline. You can see each of us above, L-R: Marc, Allen, Randy and Paul. There are exciting new plans and opportunities coming soon. In our ongoing quest to provide the latest machine control information, we are excited to provide an expanded online education for engineers, contractors, and the final link in the chain, those folks who operate the machines that get the job done.
Stay tuned, as our September issue will feature more exclusive articles, videos and a new guided tour (of our site) I am finishing this weekend. Visit us often, as we update the MCo site daily.

That Dam GPS!
Reedy Creek Dam Project
by John Wallace
“Knowing and being able to verify how much dirt you’ve moved is critical. Ten thousand yards of dirt can be a relatively small fraction of the overall project, but it can represent a whole day’s run … and that can mean several thousand dollars.”

It's All About the Data: Welcome to the world of data prep, “The Glamour Life” - When I started doing data preparation years ago, a lot of my friends wanted the “Marco Deal”. What they said it meant, was they would roll out of bed at the crack of 8 in the morning, and put in a leisurely 9 to 5 shift in a converted bedroom in their house. These were guys that...

Data Prep: Tips, Tricks & Techniques: The Road that doesn’t lead to Contours - In my previous article, I began my multi-article discussion regarding proposed grade contours. As I mentioned in that article, proposed grade contours are almost universal for every project. Your projects are more likely to contain this grading information than any other and the...

Site Connectivity: Let’s All Get Along Command and control – what does that make you think of? A slave labour workforce, your own robot army (yes please), kids that do what you want when you want? All highly plausible (except for the last, that will never ever happen, well not for me anyway!) And each having its own merits, but this is Machine Control...
